it's so hard to believe that 11 years ago i sat in mr. price's 6th grade homebase class hearing the news that there had been a terrorist attack in new york. i didn't even know what the world trade center was or even really what a terrorist attack was, all i remember was being scared and feeling uncertain about the future of my country...
today looking back my heart opens to all of those who lost loved ones in the tower, on flight 93 and in the pentagon whether it be victims of the attack or those who gave their lives trying to save others. seeing this country's patriotism on a day like today makes me wish that everyday we could all join around one another and work for the good of this nation. just a reflective day and a day in which i am so thankful for my freedom and my safety and i am so proud to call America my home.

"terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. these acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of the American resolve. America was targeted for attack because we are the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. and no one will keep that light from shining." - george w. bush (september 11, 2001)
annddd i'm back to this blog!! haven't even been back in the states for a week yet weird its been so busy because we've had missy's deb stuff this weekend which was so much fun! loved getting to be with my family and see some friends. also loveeee being back for football! watched games all day saturday and sunday, along with the fedex cup and the us open. basically i've been extremely lazy haha but loving it, don't think it'll last long. the only complaint i've had while being home is that i can not sleep during the night, which therefore causes me to sleep in forever. i think i'm going to take sleeping pills early tonight so that i can have a full night's rest, wake up and get things done tomorrow. the rest of my week will consist of finishing my portfolio and filling out paperwork to try to get my certifications through as well as my substitute teaching application done. ughh so much paperwork that i have to wait on. oh well i haven't been back long and its all getting me closer to a job!! hoping for some babysitting or work at church or something until then because even though i don't have to pay for rent or meals i need a little income. so back to the real world for me. gotta get my room under control as all of my stuff from eighteen years growing up is in here and now everything from college is pilled in every free corner, there is no where to put my clothes from NZ so its become a slight problem. this will keep me very very busy i am sure. its so strange being back and not really seeing anyone. a lot of my friends are spread out all over the east coast its crazy, i need to find my raleigh friends and hang out soon! can't wait to visit athens and hopefully dc and new york, but i've gotta make some money before i can head up north. anyway, it is nice to be back and so far the weather has been beautiful! i love north carolina in the fall!
ps. decided to train for the camp half marathon. ah i'm really nervous, but excited! i mean i did run cross country for four years (four years ago...) so we'll see if that'll help me get back in shape. here we go!
