"sometimes i have the strangest feeling about you. especially when you are near me as you are now. it feels as though i had a string tied here under my left rib where my heart is, tightly knotted to you in a similar fashion. and when you go, with all that distance between us, i am afraid that this cord will be snapped, and i shall bleed inwardly."
- jane eyre
my fall posts have really been lacking, my apologies to you fall you will always be my favorite season. its this time of year i really just want to spend all my weekends in the mountains, curled up next to the fire and hiking and watching football and drinking red wine with friends. but first i need a pumpkin!
and some hot chocolate... i've already had swiss miss a few times.
and i'm so sad i'm missing the nc state fair. one of my favorite parts about living in raleigh we always always went to the fair, i haven't been in four years and it makes me so sad. i miss it so much! i also miss falling asleep to the sound of fireworks every night for two weeks. wishing i could ride the ferris wheel right now.

i'm currently reading peter pan and i'm quite enjoying. wanted to share a wonderful part. what a lovely thought, our mothers protecting us like this. i only wish this is something i could do for my future children....

"mrs. darling first heard of peter when she was tidying up her children's minds. it is the nightly custom of every good mother after her children are asleep to rummage in their minds and put things straight for the next morning, repacking into their proper places the many article that have wandered during the day... it is quite like tidying up drawers. you would see her on her knees, i expect, lingering humorously over some of your contents wondering where on earth you had picked this thing up, making discoveries sweet and not so sweet, pressing this to her cheek as if it were as nice as a kitten, and hurriedly stowing that out of sight. when you wake in the morning, the naughtiness and evil passions with which you went to bed have been folded up small and placed at the bottom of your mind; and on the top, beautifully aired, are spread out your prettier thoughts, ready for you to put on."
happy manic monday. have a wonderful week!

kinda like mell street's dance party last night... which included embarrassing videos and a playlist of defying gravity, bump n' grind, promiscuous girl and what would you do? this is definitely a great motto to live by and i plan to implement it more.

well i spent my weeekend on the peir. it was freezing and windy but it was awesome. gave lots of boat rides and learned more about rigging/furling/sailing a scot. it was so great seeing so many people back! there were over 1,000 people there to celebrate camp! brining a boat out of the marina on saturday morning the sun was shining and the chilly breeze was blowing and it was just beautiful to see the place i love so much in that moment.

here's a photo of the regatta off the end of the pier on saturday.
