weird that i'm blogging this, but yesterday evening was a great moment in history. i wanted to post this statement from George Bush because its finally time that what he started is finished. Obama gave a great address to the nation as well. it was an emotional night for many, i was getting chill bumps listening to the people around the nation singing "god bless america" and chanting "USA," besides 9/11 this is the most patriotism i've ever experienced in my lifetime and this country needed a boost, we needed something to bring us back together. while i do celebrate justice being served, i struggle with the fact that i should not be celebrating the death of anyone, no matter how awful and terrible they are. as a Christian i am called to embrace justice as well as love my enemies. and while that feels impossible right now after remembering all the horrible things this man has done, it is what is also truly important right now. prayers for Osama to somehow be brought back to goodness by God's love. my prayers are continually with all of our troops and leaders and my heart hopes that someday the people in the middle east will be able to experience the peace and freedom that they deserve.

"earlier this evening, President Obama called to inform me that American forces killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of the al Qaeda network that attacked America on September 11, 2001. I congratulated him and the men and women of our military and intelligence communities who devoted their lives to this mission. They have our everlasting gratitude. This momentous achievement marks a victory for America, for people who seek peace around the world, and for all those who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001. The fight against terror goes on, but tonight America has sent an unmistakable message: No matter how long it takes, justice will be done."
