"I really don't know why it is that all of us are so committed to the sea, except i think it's because in addition to the fact that the sea changes, and the light changes, and the ships change, it's because we all came from the sea. And it's an interesting biological fact that all of us have in our veins the exact same percentage of salt in our blood that exists in the ocean, and therefore, we have salt in our blood, our sweat and in our tears. We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch it, we are going back from whence we came." --JFK

this reminded me of you kluggy.

"Let yourself go. You are inclined to get muddled, if I may judge from last night. Let yourself go. Pull out from the depths those thoughts that you do not understand, and spread them out in the sunlight and know the meaning of them." --A Room With a View
it's a kinda rainy thursday night here in athens. don't get me wrong i'm so so excited to be back! rush and the beginning of school have been so exciting but at the same time a little overwhelming. with the excitement of a new year comes the stress of new work and getting everything together, it's the business of everything i wish i could escape and just have time to hang out with my friends and go out and paint and perfect our new house.

summer now feels officially over and it's so sad.

right now i'm dreaming of laying in a hammock somewhere warm.

or swinging on a swing that looks just like this.
or laying in bed with nothing to do but cuddle all day.

right now i'm loving purple, teal and yellow nail polishes. i got a dark purple pedi today, it may be too wintery but i don't care. purple is so much fun!

dear seafarer,
i am so sad, and so sorry that i didn't make it down to the pier this summer. i was so busy that i never found the time, and i regret not making this a priority.

i wish i'd gotten to...

see the new t-tops on the parkers.
wear all black and paint myself for the ski show.
watch the sunsets night after night over the neuse.
enjoy the colorful sunfish trains on days without wind.
drive tube tamers and skiers (even beginner ski).
gaze in awe at the flying scots.
prep and secure boat after boat, and fix the babies over and over. i miss the smell of gasoline and the sound of motors puttering in the morning.
make dough boys after college night.
swim in the neuse, even if i get stung by jelly fish.
and most importantly, be with my best friends,
and play with my wonderful campers.
i also wish that i'd gotten to sing wimbaway at candlelight.

don't worry though, i'll be back. i don't know when or how, but i'll be back. seafarer is calling me.
